Square Enix to Distribute Dead Island to the Americas

Today, Deep Silver and Square Enix announced that they will be collaborating to distribute Dead Island to the West. Square Enix’s strong arm in marketing and distribution makes this a good move and will ensure the game will sell well. Hopefully this will mean there will be more mainstream attention for the game so it can sell well and continually be looked after by the developers after release.

Deep Silver and Square Enix Team Up for Dead Island™ Distribution in North and South America

LARKSPUR, CA – May 3, 2011 – Deep Silver and Square Enix, Inc. announced today a collaboration in which Square Enix will be the Americas region distributor for Dead Island™, the highly anticipated zombie action game with role-playing elements for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft®, PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system and Windows-based PCs.
“Square Enix’s impressive distribution and marketing capabilities, combined with their proven success with launching top-notch AAA titles, makes them the absolute best partner for Dead Island,” said Deep Silver Chief Operating Officer Geoff Mulligan. “We’re thrilled to be partnering with their dedicated and talented team and look forward to collaborating with them in order to bring Dead Island to gamers.”
Developed by Techland, Dead Island combines first-person action with a heavy focus on melee combat, character development and customization of a vast array of weapons. The engaging survival-focused gameplay aspects are combined with a rich and immersive storyline in which a small group of people find themselves in a tropical paradise turned into total chaos and carnage after a mysterious zombie outbreak. Cut off from the rest of the world, the player’s only chance to survive is to fight to the death and find a way to escape from the island.
With firearms and ammunition being scarce, the player must utilize day-to-day items as weapons for self-defense to fight off zombie hordes in intense, gruesome melee combat. Featuring four customizable, unique character classes and engrossing role-playing elements combined with an intense four player co-op experience, Dead Island stands out as one of the most comprehensive zombie experiences to date.
“Dead Island is a truly extraordinary title and we couldn’t be more excited about leveraging our unified Square Enix resources in bringing it to audiences in the Americas.” said Mike Fischer, president and chief executive officer, Square Enix, Inc.
Dead Island will be released for Xbox 360, the PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system and Windows PC later this year.

Silent Hill: Past Life Trade Paperback Now Available

Written by Tom Waltz, and illustrated by Menton3, Silent Hill: Past Life is the earliest tale in the Silent Hill world. The four part comic series released a few months back, but now a convenient paperback with all four issues combined is available for purchase. Amazon even has it on sale for $9.46. That’s nearly half off!
We loved the short series due to its macabre art style and satisfying, but eluding story. It’s also a good way to get ready for the release of Silent Hill: Downpour later this year. Comic reading Silent Hill fans can’t go wrong.

Left 4 Dead Update April 22nd

Versus Survival
Can you survive against your friends?

The first Survivor team sets the time. The second team tries to beat it. Then the first team tries to beat the second team's time. Then the second team tries to beat the first team's time. And then the... you get the idea. Rounds keep switching until someone fails to beat the previous time.

This is a great way to try Versus. Rounds are only as long as you can keep beating each other’s times. There are no rushing Survivors. Infected spawns get quicker as the time increases. It is mayhem filled with all the weapon perks and items. What’s not to like? Give it a try.

When to Tier?
The last poll asked when to place tier 2 weapons?

The winner was to place Tier 2 weapons unpredictably in Map 2 followed by unpredictably placed in Map 1. After those two the rest are all distant runners muddled together.

So this makes it clear you want unpredictable tier 2 weapons when they are first available. We will try them on map 2 first and go from there. Remember, polls aren’t the final word. You never really know how something is going to work until you test it. We use this as a place to start testing and then react from further testing.

Portal 2?
With Portal 2’s release this week we were wondering, do you plan on playing the Co-op section of Portal 2?

Clint City Idols

 Urban Rivals

For those of you who didn’t watch Clint TV last night, here’s a rundown of the finals of Clint City Idol! Cherry opened the show and set the night on fire with her feminist pop songs. Stella won the hearts of all her intergalactic fans despite singing in Glinkon dialect. And although Bianca’s musical outpourings weren’t a huge hit with the young, that wouldn't have stopped the judges, who’d been paid-off by the Uppers, from voting for her. But when Russel underwent his transformation and started howling at the moon, there was no doubt about it - a voice like that definitely deserved first prize!!

If you want a 100% organic brawl, Earth Day special event is this way!

Resident Evil 6 Will Be “Different” Says Capcom

It turns out Capcom doesn’t know exactly what to do with the Resident Evil series. Not in a whole, but the canonical games. Translated by our friends at Rely On Horror, Capcom’s Masachika Kawata told Marcaplayer that Resident Evil 6 will be completely different. He’s not sure whether the game will stick to a horror or shooter genre, but he’s adamant on the fact that the game will be a reinvention of the series.
“The series will see a complete renovation with the next entry on every level. But we can’t forget about all the previous entries that have led to the creation of many possibilities for the franchise. I can’t say if we’re going to make it (Resident Evil 6) survival horror or a shooter, but I can say that it’ll be totally different.”, Kawata states.
The last time we heard that, we were blessed with Resident Evil 4, but it’s follow up Resident Evil 5 brought good graphics rather than refreshing gameplay. We only hope that Resident Evil 6 changes up the series in a positive way, and goes toward the survival horror route. Resident Evil was a pioneer of the survival horror genre, and we wish to see it become that yet again; hopefully Capcom can deliver.

A Walk Through the Set of 'Silent Hill: Revelation 3D'
A Toronto-based fan took to Cherry Beach, east of the city, which has been transformed into a twisted fairground with rabbits in bags, dead fish and demented rides in the Michael J. Bassett-directed Silent Hill: Revelation 3D. Inside you'll find two behind-the-scenes videos where said fan walks through the entire set. Nice!

Adelaide Clemens, Kit Harington, Sean Bean, Radha Mitchell, Deborah Kara Unger, Carrie-Anne Moss, and Malcolm McDowell all star.

"For years, Heather Mason and her father have been on the run, always one step ahead of dangerous forces that she doesn’t fully understand. Now on the eve of her 18th birthday, plagued by terrifying nightmares and the disappearance of her father, Heather discovers she's not who she thinks she is. The revelation leads her deeper into a demonic world that threatens to trap her in Silent Hill forever."

The work continues on the Digital Delivery (DD) project. Our programmers estimate they have finished about 75% of the total project. There are several areas of the project that are still being developed, including a rating system for purchases. Current estimates are that the first stage of the project will be ready to launch by the end of next week.

Konami SH:Homecoming Bogeyman Statue For Pre Order

There’s an official Konami Style Silent Hill: Homecoming Bogeyman resin statue up for pre-order in Japan (which is a little little strange considering the Homecoming game was never published in that region.) The Bogeyman statue along with the Pyramid Head and Valtiel statues released several months back makes this Konami’s third official Silent Hill monster statue release to date.
According to the Konami Style website, Bogeyman will release on May 5 with a mighty expensive retail price of 29,400 yen (about $357 USD)! For those outside of Japan who wish for a Bogeyman of their very own, no need to fret, he is also up for pre-order over at Mio Boutique but with a bit of a markup for 31,500 yen (about $382).

Devin Shatsky on Downpour’s Alan Wake Comparison

Konami released a few new screenshots of upcoming Silent Hill: Downpour last week, and the internet went ablaze with Alan Wake comparisons. We saw these comparisons awhile back with the E3 trailer and even then we could not fully agree. Horror games with trees mean Alan Wake? Many seem to forget that past Silent Hill games gave us glimpses of the outer forests.
While Alan Wake was a great game, it did not copyright video game forests. The last screens we saw were from an early portion in the game. Murphy is still on his way to the town, and it’s safe to say that the otherworld is far from consuming reality; there’s sunlight and no fog.
Devin Shastky, producer behind Downpour got back to us in response to this comparison.

"I think it’s a bit odd for anyone who hasn’t even seen the game to be drawing comparisons to any other games. They can only judge from the screenshots they’ve seen, so I don’t blame them. If they think we are looking “Alan Wake-ish” just because we have a forest area in part of the game, then so be it. But it could easily be said that Alan Wake ripped off SH in a number of ways with the look and feel of their entire game. Granted, all games evolve from each other in some capacity, so I think its narrow minded to think like that.
I would like to point out we have WAY more variety of environments in Downpour than Alan Wake does, so I feel very comfortable that the comparisons will end at these forest shots. There are a multitude of other environments in Downpour that people will be hard-pressed to compare to ANY other games, we have a very unique variety of landscapes and interiors, and I think the fans will be very pleased with the job Vatra is doing on our environments. The forest is just a drop in the bucket (pun intended) of where we take the player in this game."
We think that there’s just a bit of ignorance going about, and no one can justify calling foul from a few screenshots of one type of in-game location. Perhaps people already forgot about the screenshots from the town released a few months ago. Those gave us an in depth look at a new style to the classic town that we know and love. If anything, Alan Wake‘s atmosphere and style was influenced by games like Silent Hill.

Light Chancellors Pack 3 -The Finale- Released!

When extracted just copy over the folders to the pack.

Back with another pack but this will be the last of the LC Pack series. RIP LCP, you have served the community well. What better way to end the series off than a larger pack filled with more files and variety? There are some easier difficulties to appeal to 4key beginners as well as 2 exclusive solo/6key charts.

This time around, difficulty ratings have been completely revamped and are now based on the Notes Per Second system, which explains why the ratings seem higher than before. Using the DC Scale made it too hard to distinguish what exactly was a file's difficulty and it was too subjective. Using NPS not only gives a generally accurate rating, but it allows beginners and intermediate players to determine their level of skill as to what levels they can pass or score well on. And you would've noticed that a good number of files in this pack have multiple charts to promote 4key beginner charts and attract new players, however the main charts are still on Heavy and/or above.

Thank you to everyone that helped assemble this pack, whether through submitting files, judging, providing graphics, and simple suggestions/comments.

Special shoutouts to the following people:
- Sargon for stepping the majority of the easier charts in the pack.
- Rebound and Don for helping with GFX.
- Kommisar for helping to promote the pack amongst other simfile authors who have never submitted to the packs before.

Signed up for a site named Varolo, apparently, you get paid to watch various advertisements, similar to that one feature in Swagbucks, i guess ill try it out, and report back to see if it's worth it.

edit;it has 100% ref rate, so whatever anyone you ref makes, you get too, also the people they ref, and the people they ref, and so on and so forth.

However, it'll take many many hours to be able to afford anything with points from that site, which i guess is fine, it's free, but you are required to rate the ad you saw right after it's done playing, meaning you can't just walk away and leave it on.

Right now, though, it's taking FOREVER to load, sudden burst in members it seems?

according to my math, you'd have to watch 4000 videos (100 hours) to have enough to get a 10$ gift card.

each video has the money equivalent of 0.005 dollars, or half a cent.

I recommend skipping this one, and wait for something better to come around.
